The freshest dessert

Every summer, our first fruits to come in are the cherries and raspberries.

There's nothing so lovely as a bowl full of fresh cherries for dessert.

The raspberries are still coming in, but there were enough to pick a handful and enjoy on the spot.

The children were also fascinated watching this little garden spider making it's web.  We'd accidently disturbed it whilst picking the fruit, but it methodically went down and fixed the broken axis and then settled again awaiting it's supper.

Later, Maestro told me it was the first time he'd actually seen a spider mend it's web.  Well, it's certainly a good time of the year to get outside and watch the quieter creatures doing their work, although I wouldn't recommend breaking off part of a web to see it in action.

I love this time of year and all of the fresh fruit, too. I managed to pick four strawberries tonight, and that was nothing short of a miracle, as when we had three inches of rain, the strawberry beds filled up with water, and they don't like wet feet.

Spiders are intriguing, aren't they? We have orb spiders here, and they spin their webs at night and take them down in the morning - interesting, huh!

We also have frogs hopping around the back yard when it rains, and it's wonderful to hear their ribbett, ribbett - all glory belongs to God!

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

I love both cherries & raspberries but I live in teh wrong climate to grow cherries. They are so expensive to buy too ~ but we always get some for Christmas.
