I showed the children an example by first painting a black silhouette, then filling in with coloured lines and finally filling in detail with dots and stripes using white. We did the dots with either a cotton bud or end of a matchstick (depending on the size of the picture).
Maestro did this lovely landscape picture:
Mariposa did a koala and kookaburra in a gum tree:
and then created her colourful turtle:

Well done, Mariposa and Maestro!
Have a great week,

Cool Pictures! Ditz was into this a year or two back & boy! Are the dots time consuming!!! We went through a few cotton buds. Ditz was able to have a chat with one of our local Aboriginal artists about the different things she uses to get different sized dots but I don't think Ditz was that keen! ☺ So much work!
That would've been great, to talk to an Aboriginal artist.
We enjoyed looking through the Melb. Museum and all the fabulous Aboriginal artifacts. The possum cloak was amazing (and very inspiring for another quilting project .. wink!)
Love these pieces of aborigianl art.
Will look forward to seeing what you can create in the possum cloak range!
