After a very busy schedule over the past few weeks, full of exams and extra dance lessons, we finally finished up this week with a trip to the city for a NoBraces appointment. Then I decided to grab my camera and spend some time seeing what's been happening around my home before another week ends.
There is no doubt about it; once the soil begins to warm up, there is no stopping plants bursting into life, showing off their beautiful colours and filling the air with their wonderful perfumes. The freesias are out with their vibrant yellows and reds, offset by the blues of the marguerite daisies. The jasmine is climbing over the garden arch nicely and flowering for the first time too!
This sweet pittosporum welcomes us with it's wonderful scent each spring, sitting at the entrance to the driveway.
Yesterday we had a lot of rain and the blossoms ended up carpeting the sidewalk and driveway.
The pear tree is also in blossom again. Mariposa has taken delight in watching all her baby "Charlottes" (ie: spiders) making their little wheels of webs throughout the tree.
Our first asparagus spear for the season!!
The apricots have set well. Let's hope we don't loose this crop as we did last Summer in a long heatwave.
The hens are now in lay. We're getting around 4-5 eggs a day.
They certainly aren't camera shy, are they?!

What beautiful photos!
Our chooks have been laying all year, and we fed eight with 27 eggs on Wednesday night, and my daughter used 12 in a bread and butter pudding. They are excellent layers!
Our turkeys are laying, too - we are just waiting for a chook to go broody to sit on them.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Blessings,
Jillian

Lovely pics. I love how the whole world just bursts out about this time of the year.
Hey, I linked to your blog off aussiehomeschool and was just taking a look around. I went back and checked out little Cheeky and my prediction is female. In all the chicks we've raised (except one sneeky one) the hens always get their tail feathers first and then their body feathers while the roosters don't seem to have many wing feather early on and then seem to get all their feathers all of a sudden. Hope it turns out this way for Cheeky too, she's obviously a well loved chick!
Missy.
Oh, thanks Missy!
We'd be very happy if this was a hen. We aren't really able to keep a rooster, and now that the children have become so attached I've been getting a little concerned about "Plan B".
Thanks for dropping by. :)
I love your forst asparagus spear Alecat, and all your chooks are grown up and looking lovely.
I have loaded up all of your blog tonight and had a long overdue read- I am so looking orward to getting broadband.
