Is the week over yet?

I can't believe that another week is almost at an end. It's been a very busy week, having lots of activities and appointments away from the home. I seriously need to just STOP and resettle, but this spurt of extra curricula certainly hasn't damaged us in any way.

Let's see, Monday we were visiting friends and learning about how Sonlight works. This actually involved 2 visits, so I was out ALL day! I've done lots of computer time checking out sample pages and any other information I could come across before deciding we'll go ahead. Hubby is keen on extending Maestro's love of literature, and encouraging Mariposa too. At least some of the read-alouds will help him feel more involved in our homeschooling than how it's working at present.

Tuesday, friends visiting again ... discussing Sonlight (of course) and how we may be able to pool some resources to minimise costs between 2 families. Book Depository will be helping a lot, too, as they have free postage. I can also order those books I need per month once the schedule (or Instruction Guide) is here. (See, that's where most of my time has gone, checking which books I must order directly from SL, and which I can purchase later at Book Depository).

Wednesday, the most 'normal' day of the week as we managed to get heaps of schoolwork done, but a late night with dancing and violin lessons.

Thursday (today!) Mariposa had a 3 hour horse handling / riding lesson with a friend. Miss E and Mariposa are exactly 1 year and 1 week apart in age and share many similar interests, including horses. This may be our beginning of some more serious horsey business if we can arrange a homeschooling beginners group for fortnightly classes.

Friday will be schoolwork in the morning, then our regular NoBrace appointment in the city.

There it is, the whole week will be gone and I promised myself that we'd have a more relaxing routine ... but now I need time to recover. :)

Hi Alecat,

It sounds like you've been busy. What core did you decide to go ahead with? I may have a few extra copies of some Core 5 books if you're interested in buying second hand. I sourced alot of mine this way to keep the cost down.

What a busy week you've had!

We looked at Sonlight and were really impressed with it, but in the end, we went with Weaver.

If you could pool resources, that would be such a big help.

Yeah, um... so what did you do in your spare time??!!
Some weeks are like that! The horse handling sounds like a great activity, one every little girl dreams of.

Melanie,
We've decided to start Maestro on Core 5 asap. He's got some work to still get through, but we can incorporate most of that in the Core 5 routine when it arrives.
Then we'll start Mariposa on Core 1+2, pretty much as a recap. of this year's work and introducing her to more readers .. it will be a good way to transition her into 'grade 3' work.

Core 5 is a Great core! If you have readers they should love this curriculum. I can't offer you readers unfortunately. They're on a boat up north & who knows when they'll be back.
