English skills

Learning has been taking place at the kitchen table again lately. That way I still have time to finish off chores whilst being nearby when the children are doing bookwork.

Maestro is working on some creative writing. I've given him 3 days to work on this, but if he needs longer, so be it. He's taking our trip to Luna Park as a base for a scientific adventure type story; he says he's writing a sequel to the Hardy Boys books.

Mariposa has been working on her dictionary skills. Her latest exercise involved sorting 5 words into alphabetical order, but either the first 2 or 3 letters were all the same.

Having a whiteboard has been so helpful for her to work through her process of elimination.

Now she has a better understanding of using the dictionary and works through her first exercise of checking the meanings of words.

Are you going to "publish" Maestro's story? It sounds like it's going to be a good one. There are places on the 'net that you can get them published for very little, or maybe he could do it himself on the computer.

We were discussing publishing his stories, but I hadn't researched how to as yet, although I had thought of "Otherways". Thanks for the tip. :)

Looks like learning is getting done over at your place. I've still gotta get in the dictionary skills but I have time still.
