Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today ... Monday

Outside my window... birds enjoying using the birdfeeder freshly topped up with seed. Some small honeyeaters flit from the birdbath to the hakea tree.

I am thinking... that today should be another pleasant, sunny day, with fairly clear skies. It will be lovely to head out for a walk once the children are ready.

I am thankful for... my diligent husband who has just headed out to work again. I'm also thankful that he is acknowledged for his resourcefulness and still has work, even though it's hard saying farewell in the mornings, especially after working side by side on the weekends.

From the learning room... lies a few unfinished jigsaw puzzles the children were working on yesterday but didn't pack up. I'm glad they've been enjoying pulling these out again.

From the kitchen... a fresh supply of bread and cake from yesterday's baking. Nothing like a thick slice of homemade toast with a morning cuppa!

I am wearing... a warm tracksuit and my sheepskin slippers.

I am creating... a new cardigan for Mariposa.

I am reading... Besty-Tacy books aloud to Mariposa and the Little House books aloud to both children every day.

I am hearing... our cat purring loudly as he's settled on the couch.

Around the house... daffodils are exploding to life in the garden, the fruit trees are completely bare, quilts are strewn over couches for snuggling, and a newly acquired pile of library books await reading.

One of my favorite things... is the quiet time to reflect in the morning, making plans for a new day.

A few plans for the rest of the week: pick up our new pullets mid-week, prepare to sow more seed for salad greens and herbs, take out any extra dormant raspberry plants for redistribution, and take Maestro into town to learn about local Aboriginal tribes as part of his schoolwork.

Here are some pictures I am sharing...

orchids a friend gave from her garden

and a flower arrangement Mariposa brought in from our front garden.
