Let's catch up to the schedule

We're using this week to play 'catch up' on any schoolwork we're a little behind on. After sitting down with Maestro on Monday, we mapped out that he'd like to fit 13 weeks of Sonlight schedule into 10 or less. This would mean that all of Core 5 and Science 4 are completed and ready to start with a clean slate in 2011.

As this was meant to be another week where we had a break, I was quite happy with his enthusiasm. He'll leave the Maths and Language Arts for a couple of weeks.

Today we finished off his "Light and Color" book for Science. I enjoyed watching him do these experiments, and actually decided that this book would be a great gift idea for some of his cousins! It's a very tidy package, with lenses, colour filters, and a pair of prism glasses.

The prism glasses worked a treat when used with the camera!

Tomorrow we'll start Magnetism and Energy for his science. I usually spend more time with Mariposa doing her science work while Maestro does works alone, so I'm really enjoying the fact that we're doing this together.

In Core 5, he's already made headway researching India. It's fabulous timing that the Commonwealth Games have just started in Dehli. I am hoping that there will be some great educational tv shows on, hopefully giving us more information on this country and its people. Time to check out the SBS and ABC websites!

I love all these enthusiastic homeschool posts that everyone has up this week! Let us all keep up the "steam" at least until the hot weather comes in full force :-)
