A few of my favourite things

It's being debated by Maestro that my new header picture doesn't really reflect my blog title. Well, I'm trying to share some of my favourite things, which include music, nostalgia, books, friendship and quiet times. It's not easy to put everything into one photo, but these items really are a few of my favourite things. Some were given to me by from my Mum and my Nana (the jewelry, jewelry box and doll).

The flute is mine. I started playing when I was fifteen and now I'm teaching Mariposa to play. The music is "The Student Prince" .. quite apt, I thought, since we're homeschooling. I just pulled this from my large stash of music in the filing cabinet.

The books shown are a few I like to have on display. One was sent to me by a lovely homeschooling friend as part of a "Secret February Friend" gift-giving done a few years ago via the homeschooling forum. (I really like Sandra Kuck's pictures of children.) Another book is my gardening journal. It was written in England, so the seasons are around the wrong way, but I still enjoy using it with it's lovely photos and ideas. Finally, the other two books are a couple I purchased in my latter teen years. They are adorable little books with poems, simple craft ideas for gift giving and recipes.

The teapot set was a gift I received for my birthday a number of years ago. It does get used for my favourite brews. I'd love to show a photo with all my china, especially some lovely cup and saucer sets from Nana, but I can't fit them all into the photo.  This cup is special as it's from Spain. I love the colours in the design and knowing I have something special that reflects my husband's heritage.

So, there you are. I know ... not a rainbow in the literal sense, but still full of serenading and times of solace.  I think it's more the fact that now it's a very 'girly' picture that disagrees with Maestro.  If I see opportunity to photograph other 'blog heading pictures' that reflect my title, I'll work on it as time permits.

I LOVE your new blog header, in fact as I came here and noticed it I was going to comment on your post about it before I realised that your post was actually about it! so, there you go:)
I love pretty china, dolls (don't own many) and antique style stuff:) can't say I have the same in common with the music bit though:(

I had been thinking that your new header was pretty, so it is nice to read about it here and to discover some of your favourite things as well. I always wanted to learn to play the flute...
