I'd found some dvds at the library a number of weeks ago, and in anticipation of Maestro's studies moving from China to Mongolia for his Sonlight Core 5, put them on my list to borrow last week. Well, I am SO glad that I found these. They have been marvelous!

This dvd was a very long viewing; 4 episodes with about an hour for each. We had to break it into manageable sizes, which has taken us about five days.

The second dvd we have yet to share with the children, but hubby and I have already previewed it. It's called "The Story of the Weeping Camel". We're taken into the lives a Mongolian family and their lifestyle of raising camels. Like any good story, it presents a problem, and here it's about a mother camel who rejects her calf after a difficult birth. You also watch a family with interesting characters.
National Geographic's site (here) offers more information and beautiful photos of Mongolia, including an interactive timeline. If you'd like to view some of this dvd on YouTube, go to this page.

We also saw a fascinating DVD from our Sunbury Library set in Mongola called, "Cave of the Yellow Dog"
It's great. Set in the wide open spaces of Mongolia about a family living in a Yurt. If it's not at Sunbury it should still be in the Hume Network.

Thank you Leanne. I'll see if I can find it borrow ourselves. :)
We haven't watched Weeping Camel, yet. However, I've heard great things about it and want to use it when we get to a point in our homeschool that it will fit. (We're doing modern history this year.)
Welcome on board the TOS Crew. Wishing you a wonderful year full of blessings.

Great DVD suggestions! We are working on Core 5 this year too, and I'll be adding these to our list.
