I remember learning origami and then creating all sorts of things. My favourite was a little paper party box, but I don't have instructions for that anymore. But what I DO have are some cute Japanese origami papers I purchased from Zart Art.
Of course, Japan means looking at other things too.
We'll be making sushi. Thankfully I already have some nori sheets, but will need to stock up on pickled ginger and a few other 'interesting' things (.. we're a bit dubious about wasabi paste).
One thing I know little about, but will most likely appeal to Maestro is Manga art. This site also has tutorials.
Ahhh - just realised that Japan also means Ninja. I guess we'll have some interesting discussions about martial arts too, as we've never really exposed the children to that before. This is going to be very interesting!

I like the look of origami but alas, I seem to have five thumbs when it comes to the art of paper folding! Hope Maestro has more dexterity and success.
