Wednesday workmen

Our street has been very busy! Trucks, cranes, workmen ... they're upgrading the electricity wires and it's obviously not a simple little task.

Maestro grabbed the camera and took these photos this morning, but he couldn't get too close as there were wires everywhere along the footpath.

During the final 'hook up' stage tomorrow, we'll have no electricity from 9am until they finish (an estimated time of 5pm). It's made me realise how reliant we are on electricity now. The fridge/freezer needs to run a little cooler early tomorrow morning so the food won't spoil during the day. I'm interested to see how tomorrow will pan out, actually. Instead of having the occasional tv free week, perhaps we could try for 1/2 days of being electricity free .. ????

This photo taken on Thursday, when the electricity actually went off. The workers are in and out of people's front yards and the street full of these trucks.

Hi Alecat. Great photos that your son has taken! What an interesting thought...we are so reliant on electricity aren't we! Our eldest daughter turns 13 in January and we are planning for her and I to have a mini holiday somewhere special....we dream of somewhere like Vanuatu and I only just found out there is no electricity there. How ignorant am I?!! Not that we'd mind, in fact my daughter likes the idea of camping out somewhere! I'm thinking spa bath or at least flushing loo LOL!!
Have a great week and I hope tomorrow goes as planned!

Hello Melanie! :)
What a lovely idea .. I hope you find somewhere peaceful for your mini vacation.
I hadn't thought how Vanuatu didn't have electricity, so that's something to discuss with the children whilst we study the Pacific Islands. I must admit, Vanuatu is one place I wouldn't mind seeing, as well as Tonga and Fiji.
Well, happy planning for your time together, and have a lovely week! :)

What wonderful photos - Maestro should be congratulated!

In order to stop food from spoiling in the freezer, put several layers of newspaper over the top of all frozen foods, and don't open the fridge at all during the day.

We have power blackouts all the time up here, and that is how we stop food spoiling.
Blessings,
Jillian

Lose power here any time there's a big storm rolling about. Not as bad as it used to be but if we think we might lose power we cook tea early & fast. Nothing worse than a 1/2 cooked meal & a cold dark house!
