The children were already so excited. We have been planning to head up to my sister's property in country NSW for a while to stay with their 5 cousins ... but when their Papa came home and suggested we start our vacation a day earlier, they were beside themselves! We have spent the past week in preparation, so except for the last minute feeding of animals and tidying up after breakfast, we only have a car to pack and we're ready!
The only thing I won't have ready is a planned type of journal for the children to follow, in which I hoped to include strip maps, showing towns along the way, mileage, attractions ... but there still may be time if we're super organised in the morning. Here's an example of what I wanted to use, except a little more fleshed out (ie: over several pages). If I do manage to get it done, I'll have to show you what it looks like when we return.
So, our trip: heading north along the Hume Hwy to Bowral to stay for a week, meeting up with other homeschoolers for a beach day too (weather permitting), then to Sydney to stay with homeschooling friends New Year's Eve and Day, then down the coast a bit to Wollongong to stay with another sister before meandering through the mountains toward home again. There are lots of historical site-seeing to be done, and now that we're leaving a day eariler than planned, it means more stops to take in said sites!
I'll post again when we're home and share some of our adventures.
